My husband and I just got tickets to see Mary Poppins this weekend. I couldn't be more excited! Seeing the movie as a child and now the musical as an adult rushes in a flood of nostalgic feelings. There is something special a live performance brings which you can't get by reading a book, watching it on the television or listening on the radio. Everyone comes out and comes together to listen and watch in awe of the talents on stage. Weather it's your local theatre or Broadway in NYC, everyone should experience what theatrical plays have to offer.
Well I just started my new career with F. Schumacher & Co.
It's been a wonderful experience so far. How can you not love meeting with designers and be inspired by the innovative collection Schumacher carries. Here's a peak at a few of my favs so far.
Accompanying this warm raining sunday night are the sounds of solitude... the sun is setting as the dewy drops fall from the leaves outside my window. With a cup of coffee, the sultry and retro-chic sounds of classics of Lykke Li, Etta James, Au Revoir, Simone and others- let's just chill
I just returned from a refreshing trip to the South. Beautiful Charleston, South Carolina, the land of historical restoration, shrimp and grits, palm trees and ocean. Not much can challenge the delicious tastes of the local seafood, BBQ & ice tea of the Carolina's. Walking by the spanish moss hanging from the trees and into a store and hearing:
"Hey, hey hey baby, I want to know, if you'll be my girl!
When I saw you walk down the street I said that's the kind of girl I'd like to meet She's so pretty, Lord she's fine
I'm gonna make her mine, all mine"
Thank you Charleston for the encouraging warm breezes and smiling faces, reminding me- Spring IS coming!
I love candles. Placing one by your bed, in the kitchen, by your computer on your desk; oh the ambiance it brings! The scent can take you far far away, to a place you've longed to revisit. Here are some candles I like:
Weather you're relaxing, reading a book or sharing a glass of wine with your significant other, the perfect room to set to mood and inspire you is a necessity. The intimate details of an elegant table setting always allow for a beautiful meal with friends or your lover. An antique desk with some pink peonies and fine stationary is a wonderful way to take a moment to write someone and let them know you're thinking about them, especially in the day of texting and e-mail. Notice the color palate and textures of these rooms. Soft lighting is one of the most important elements in highlighting the mood.
Cheers to romance and the places you enjoy with the loves of your life!
The Sound of Music is one of my all time favorite movies. It began with childhood memories of a family Christmas night tradition, all gathered around television in the den, with my mother, grandmither and aunts. Singing along with Maria and taking a virtual trip through Austria through the life played out by the captivating Julie Andrews. This beautiful and timeless movie was enough to inspire me to visit Salzburg, Austria, as an adult and take the Sound of Music Tour- a fantasy come to life, through the beautiful people and landscape of a charming country.
Here we are in one of the biggest snow storms in DC's history, just one more layer in my new love affair with the city. Feathery snow falls on every monument, bench and light post, bringing a romantic veil over the city. So, let us celebrate my first blog entry, and the beautiful snow, by popping the bubbly, drawing a warm bath and enjoying the moment!
