Candles
I love candles. Placing one by your bed, in the kitchen, by your computer on your desk; oh the ambiance it brings! The scent can take you far far away, to a place you've longed to revisit. Here are some candles I like:

Romantic Rooms
Weather you're relaxing, reading a book or sharing a glass of wine with your significant other, the perfect room to set to mood and inspire you is a necessity. The intimate details of an elegant table setting always allow for a beautiful meal with friends or your lover. An antique desk with some pink peonies and fine stationary is a wonderful way to take a moment to write someone and let them know you're thinking about them, especially in the day of texting and e-mail. Notice the color palate and textures of these rooms. Soft lighting is one of the most important elements in highlighting the mood.
Cheers to romance and the places you enjoy with the loves of your life!

Sound of Music

The Sound of Music is one of my all time favorite movies. It began with childhood memories of a family Christmas night tradition, all gathered around television in the den, with my mother, grandmither and aunts. Singing along with Maria and taking a virtual trip through Austria through the life played out by the captivating Julie Andrews. This beautiful and timeless movie was enough to inspire me to visit Salzburg, Austria, as an adult and take the Sound of Music Tour- a fantasy come to life, through the beautiful people and landscape of a charming country.
Snow in the City
Here we are in one of the biggest snow storms in DC's history, just one more layer in my new love affair with the city. Feathery snow falls on every monument, bench and light post, bringing a romantic veil over the city. So, let us celebrate my first blog entry, and the beautiful snow, by popping the bubbly, drawing a warm bath and enjoying the moment!
